Working as designed for good light only gov.uk When visibility is bad, your vehicle would be too dim at the back and too bright at the front, you should switch to sidelights at least, these punters are getting it wrong all round]

It might be that the auto setting is either not switched on, or isn't at all sensitive to driving in dark conditions in heavy rain]
