Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I like the looping back thing but only for groups of runners, it would be tiresome if it’s just the two of you and the other person kept doing it.

When someone has "run with me" then done the looping back thing I've never thought, "Oh, you are so much faster than me, I worship at your feet," I've thought, "You've got bad manners and if you were as good a runner as you'd like to think you are you'd be able to run at my pace."

When you are going hypo and you treat it and think it’s not working so you eat more sweets and your BG then spikes.

Sigh
Here we go, as expected: email from the school to parents, sent at 4:10 on a Friday.

"Dear all, Please find attached some reminders about the return to school on Monday. (None of this is new information, it is just a reminder)"

Things on the list of "reminders" that we had not been told before (we have the previous list pinned to the kitchen wall):

"We encourage all pupils to bring hand sanitiser and tissues" (adds more of each to the shopping list)
"It will minimise sharing of resources if pupils bring all stationery, glue and scissors alongside reading books." (what sort of glue? Or scissors, for that matter??)

Oh, and the list of "reminders" also directs you to a powerpoint on the school website, which then further adds:
"Ensure you child has their own stationary, head-phones, reading book, water bottle and packed lunch(if possible)." Headphones are also a new thing and not a "reminder". Don't get me started on the incorrect use of "you" and the wrong spelling of stationery...

I would definitely point out that this was the first time you’d been told about some of the stuff. I’d also be tempted to point out to them the spelling/grammar errors but that could be seen as being a bit petty :)

(Not that I mean you are being petty to mention them here, you’d think a school would get those things correct)

How much nicer if they said: Here is all you need to know. Some of it is new information, some is changed, some is old.

Frag - I agree it can sometimes work in groups of runners, but like V’rap says, when there’s just two of you...couple of weeks back a friend did this to me - bear in mind were normally the same pace, I was just having a bad day that day after about two hours sleep, two weeks previously when she’d been struggling I’d slowed down (without saying anything or making any issue of it) so we were still running together (well, with SD in effect of course, but I wasn’t running ahead of her). She wasn’t even running that far ahead of me, which made it feel even more like she was making a point that I was holding her back.
