There's a bus lane down one side (left), which bicycles can use. There's a housing development being built on an old derelict site, also on the left. The sign says "cyclists beware of construction traffic turning left across bus lane". Not "drivers beware of cyclists in bus lane".

Signs said “cyclists dismount” rather than taking extra caution for cyclists. Guess they were really expected to get off and push their bike along for a mile plus.

If they can track the driver they will defo throw the book. It's an offence to leave the scene of an RTA without providing details, so that'll likely be a double whammy. Harder to plead innocence when you flee the scene.
