Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Hope you get better from that quickly, Will. And that the miscreant is found too.

A road sign on the main road into my end of town is really ripping my knitting.

There's a bus lane down one side (left), which bicycles can use. There's a housing development being built on an old derelict site, also on the left.
The sign says "cyclists beware of construction traffic turning left across bus lane".
Not "drivers beware of cyclists in bus lane".

That reminds me of roadworks around here a while back which blocked the cycle lane. Signs said “cyclists dismount” rather than taking extra caution for cyclists. Guess they were really expected to get off and push their bike along for a mile plus.

[on the counter side, I drove down a road yesterday where they are doing roadworks and there was a sign saying “narrow lane - do not overtake cyclists.”]

[Dio, we have one of those at the moment.

But we also have several of the others, at the same time in other places! ]

Thank you for your thoughts. My knee is a bit sore, both wheels buckled on my winter bike. I have a very good witness who got the number plate. All reported to the Police who are very keen to throw the book at him.

Hurrah Dio, more of that kind of sign is needed!!

WC good to know you have a witness and number plate details. I hope s/he gets in some serious shit for leaving the scene of an accident, refusing to provide details, and for being an utter c*nt to another human being.

Glad you're okay Will. Been down once, and close more times than I'd like to remember, but thankfully nothing serious.

If they can track the driver they will defo throw the book. It's an offence to leave the scene of an RTA without providing details, so that'll likely be a double whammy. Harder to plead innocence when you flee the scene.
