Telephone callers are annoying when they don't listen because they are thinking about their pre-planned speech. You introduce yourself by name and they ask "is that is ___?" Another person entirely. The three-way conversation is also a pain. Whether it's someone on the other end clearly not listening to you because there is someone else talking to them, or even at my end - usually my wife. |

Earlier this evening, a BMW cut in front of me without indicating. (I'm sure the Germans don't put a stick on the steering column for this purpose, unlike most other manufacturers.) When he could see that I may have been cursing him he wound down the window and gave me the finger, then he made another rude gesture. If he'd indicated and gave a friendly thank-you wave, it would be so much nicer to drive around town.

(At the beginning of June I had a lift from a friend who owns that rare and magical BMW, one with working indicators ... he also slows/stops to allow people to pull out of side roads. Considerate BMW drivers cause sooo much confusion! ![]() |

10:30 min. onwards. Farming Today (5 July 2018) bbc.co.uk Buxton, sky lantern festival [?], edge of Peak District National Park. How many acres of destroyed moorland does it take to deliver a message? |

Every bit as bad as throwing a fag end out of your car window on to tinderbox moorland.

There's been no reply from the organisers to date. For a few years, the matter of wildlife & stock picking up the discarded frames, externally or internally, has been raised in the programme.

Someone nicked my fit flops from the changing room whilst I was in the pool. Never occurred to me that an obvious old pair of sandals might be at risk! I have a pair of spa issue flip flops - otherwise I would have barefoot for the rest of the day.

Switts, isn't it completely insane? Apart from the well documented dangerous effects of these lanterns on wildlife and livestock, they think that sending hundreds of open flames across the Peak District is quite safe because the lanterns are "biodegradable and have a limited burn time". Never mind the fact that the local MP, residents, landowners and the fire brigade are telling them not to. I wish I could be unsurprised that it's a US company, but I'm not. |
