Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

[I'm pleased that when I had my children my only awareness of baby showers was from Lady and the Tramp. It seems a little at odds with the tradition of it being unlucky to bring baby stuff into your house before mother and baby have survived the birth.]

I've known someone to be told they were having a girl and the baby turned out to be a boy. Serves them right for telling everyone to buy you clothes for a specific gender before the birth.

JK *chameleon*
The taxi driver this morning who tried to run me over. I was on the pavement of a busy (and very pedestrian unfriendly) crossroads. It was rush hour, so the junction quickly filled up with cars that were turning right. Mr Taxi wanted to go straight on (down a little-used road) and decided to mount the pavement to do so.

My yelp of "This is a pavement" was responded to with "She's [his fare] running late". Oh well, that's all very good then. Please do run over my feet. *growl*

Adults referring to university as 'uni'. It's university or college.

Snobs who insist on others using 5 syllable words when a perfectly good 2 syllable one is understood :)

Nothing to do with being a 'snob' Fleecy, it's an ugly abbreviation that I've never liked, and after listening to three middle aged men talking about their kids being at 'uuuuuuuuuni' for 40 minutes, its beginning to grate.

But next time something grinds my gears I'll be sure to check with you if it's 'snobby' before I post.
