Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Raptors Claws are coming to town
Those letters that schools send out to parents telling them that their children are fat and to Do Something About It. Especially when folk are getting in a lather about the suggestion that children could be taught at school how to brush their teeth, which would be a lot more useful in promoting health.

Yes, schools are weighing and measuring kids and writing to the parents if the kids' bodies are deemed to be of unacceptable size and shape. Which is a national disgrace in all sorts of ways.

Ds2 got a Thin Note asking if we'd like to see a nurse last year. Not sure how they expect me to make a naturally skinny kid suitably fat as he eats pretty healthily and stops when he's full. Maybe I ought to drive him the mile to school like the other kids in order to save him from expending calories?

It's not the schools doing it though is it? My letter was NHS headed.

It's happening in schools, though it may be decreed by some agency in the NHS of whose existence I'm only hazily aware.
