Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Oh yes, this plan has got legs! I could have some real fun now! I might let a few other folk know he is aiming for a fast time, so they can all make a point of asking him how fast he did his long run at the weekend. I should look up GFA for him now I think of it, automatic qualification for next year, ooh yes there's an incentive for him to ramp up his training! Cue evil laughter and Googling GFA...

maybe a local race as a build up event - see if he can walk the walk (or run it)

:-). Also mention his Boston Qualifier time. Tell him he's the sort of dedicated and talented athlete who will probably move on to Ironman. Ask him whether his race plan is even or negative split, what his nutrition strategy is, how will he use the pacers.

You could blow his mind completely (he sounds like the sort of puffed up bullfrog who is actually not that confident and needs others reassurance, turning it around so you act as if he is a brilliant and well prepared athlete with all the answers will ramp up the pressure.)

Oh no I feel really guilty now (though I love what Atonal Miserabilist said!)! Someone said he is 60, he might even be able to do London GFA of sub 3.45 with the right training. I have mentioned Fetch before but of course he didn't listen muppet Although it does mean I can still come on here and moan about having to listen to every minute detail of his training without offending him!

And looking at the GFA time for myself for London I felt guilty for pressuring him, frankly I'd love to go sub 6 let alone sub 3.50 or whatever it was for me! But then again, I don't bang on about my running to everyone else, he opens himself up to a bit of stick when he gives it the Billy big balls act every morning.
