Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

It seems those who have got the number have continued to play and help others, I would do the same.

I haven't got enough numbers to make a decent guess yet, which is frustrating, but I am out and about with work more, which means my walking, and potentially running routes are more interesting and I am slowly building up some numbers :-) I can't wait to be adding to the too high, too low posts :-)

shenanigans?

But most of those have been minimised, haven't they Synge?
Only one location move a day (although the fine tuning is great) and a minimum of 1km distance ?
Or are there others I should be aware of and know how to exploit?

Unless someone collects enough numbers to make at least 20 guesses, they are always going to have to rely on the efforts of others. I was extremely lucky that way, with people posting on the thread their high and low guesses leaving only 3 possible answers. That happened to fit the few numbers I had with the addition of a Sunday morning bike ride. I got lucky, then carried on my ride to collect numbers for another guess.

I don't think anyone should feel guilty about coming in with a late guess, especially if their terrain means numbers are hard to come by or they aren't physically able to cover lots of ground quickly.

I got a nice haul of numbers today, but no 5 or 7s, so I need to wait to make a useful guess. If it gets to a range of less than 100 I'll not guess - I don't want to inadvertantly get another right answer. :-)

Yes, I think so. Apologies to all for any loose wording that has caused offence. My comment was intended to convey the fact that the game is developing nicely and there have been four successful guesses in little more than a week. The last three rounds probably reflect the way Fetch intended/hoped the game would work.

Now that it is up and running, we're all beginning to understand how it works, which is much easier to see when it is trundling along with human behaviour thrown in, rather than from just trying to guess how it might work from reading the rules.

Whereas my cunningly planned rundle today ...

Number 6 planned for the start

Unfortunately I parked in the first parking place and missed it

But I wasn't trusting GPS accuracy, so for Number 1

We took a kink through the woods, which became a bigger kink as we saw a couple of stags (actually bucks, as they were fallow), which we wouldn't have seen otherwise

Shenanigans is quite polite, at least compared to wikipedia...

"A man with no honour and ignoble conduct"

I think the first round did involve a lot of leaning on the rules, and testing of edge cases, but the game seems to have settled down somewhat since then.

About This Thread

Maintained by fetcheveryone
Sign up, and you'll see your local map, with ten black markers - each one containing a digit. Collect these on your runs, rides, walks (and swims if you're lucky). It's GPS only, sorry. When you have enough digits, try and guess the secret number, which is anywhere between 1 and 1,000,000. If your guess is wrong, Rundle will tell you whether you are too high or too low.

All Fetchies are chasing the same number. You can choose to share your intel from your guesses - or (moral dilemma) you can try to throw everyone else off the scent.

If you're the person who guesses the right number, you get a snazzy new badge. The secret number will then reset, and the game begins again.
