Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Its going to be tomorrow 'cos dinner got too ginny to make any sense now. rhb was postulating that I had different wheel sizes so that 1 turn of the rear wheel goes further based on the circumference. Don't know but will take a look in the morning but in reality the difference between the Trek and Merida doesn't really change from a gearing perspective

I already appreciate the effort and time you've put in. Don't feel the need to do any more, gin or no. You've already given me more info than I thought I would get :)

Updated and rhb was right. I didn't try to recreate the issue but dialled in the sizes of the wheels and tyres of the various makes and even tyre width makes a difference. So clearly a had nudged something somewhere. I have attached the link for those that want to play.

So the analysis is pretty much as was, it just annoyed me that the numbers didn't tie up and I've put the crankset numbers from Gooner in on the Voodoo. For interest talking about weight the Merida is credited with being 190g lighter. For comparison my filled water bottle weighs 580g.

Hope it helps but in reality, from a gearing perspective the Trek has gears to let you go faster, the Merida has easier gears to get up hills. Have fun and enjoy the new bike.

Thanks again, I'll be making a decision later today, though I think I'm leaning towards the Merida to help with the hills whilst my bodyweight is still higher.

Really appreciate the effort 👍

Just wondering if anyone has any clever bike storage methods?

I bought one of these wall mounts from Made but so far my stud finder doesn't seem to be able to detect studs, only power so the DIY task is on hold

I'm in flat, so limited space. Slightly jealous of those with high ceilings, that can use the hoist method.

We store our main bikes using some Steady Racks, as in this picture
.

Works well for multiple bikes, and front wheel is only about head height (or at least for a normal person, not a short arse like me!).
