(Should you ever be up in Central Scotland then, TMW, try Plean. If you prefer less mud, but even more hills, Drumchapel.)

I didn't do Berlin either, but the Saturday morning breakfast run for international marathoners who have hit the city early is unmissable. (Unfortunately it clashes with parkrun, though!) The experience of running into the Olympic stadium and round the track is incredible!

This doesn't really do it justice, but here goes ...
Admittedly, unless you are right at the front, it's a bit of a walk by the time you get onto the track.

Synge, I didn't do that run either. We must have been there in different years, by the look of the weather in your pic! My club went to Palma de Majorca marathon one year and we did the breakfast run there, which was good with some food/drinks at the end. Another year my club went to Munich marathon and that ended in their stadium, which was a great finish too. If you want a stadium finish in the UK for a marathon, Milton Keynes is a good one, although when I did it was very, very hot and I'm really not great in the heat!
Dvorak, in Scotland, I've done Inverness parkrun. I was there for Loch Ness Marathon (a really fabulous marathon, by the way!) and the parkrun ended in the same park as where the marathon race numbers got picked up, which was ideal in terms of logistics! Also I've done Portobello when visiting friends in Edinburgh. Have you done either of those?
HappyG, no not heard anything about parkrun in Scotland as yet.

Worth noting that Inverness parkrun has two courses - the Bught park course (which sounds like the one that Big_G mentions, and I've also done), and the Whin park course (which is basically right next door). When we went there for the Loch Ness Marathon, we took a trip over to Alness - small, very pretty, and very friendly. it has a stretch on a pier out into the Cromarty Firth.

Big Game, I've ran Portie a couple of times: the inaugural; and a bit of a Fetchfest, after which several of us went to spectate at the national/ international xcs, then on to the pub. Lots of runners came in later, including WHWRunner accompanied by Callum Hawkins (who finished second or third iirc).
Inverness, however, is in "here there be dragons" territory from here They are getting a new, more year-round friendly, course.

Liking the northern parkrun references!
I don't think it is breaking any confidences to say that a date for parkrun to return in Scotland is impossible to predict at the moment because it depends on Scottish government decisions that haven't been made yet.
