Skylark! Spotted yo-yoing in the sky and heard from my bicycle when out this morning in very windy weather. A pair of oyks too; a bit further on. |

How lovely Red. I first saw and heard a skylark at Duddington Stones, and had to use Merlin ID to identify it. But the flight and song are so magical and distinctive, I recognised it straightaway when we saw another over farmland much further south some time later. One of my favourite bird related memories, up there with seeing a curlew fly at eye level on a walk near Ingram

It was magical - I said “Skylark!” out loud, even though I was on an empty country road. Lovely curlew spot/story. We have a fair few up here and I love them. |

We've just had a week down in Norfolk and along with all the usuals a couple of life time firsts: black-necked grebe and very cute lesser white-fronted geese. 108 for the week is down a bit on usual, but we seemed to get the less common species and miss many of the usuals, such as either thrush or treecreeper. |

Beautiful shot @Gooner - lovely to see that plumage on the wings. A very common sight for me near the mouth of the Tyne, but still a great bird to see.

We have a rarity in the field out behind us, Richard's pipit, people have come from at least as far as Oxfordshire to see it.
