Stirling will be my first marathon - and I'm a bit nervous about it, but not for the usual reasons. Keeping up a high pace for that long is a tough call. Like SooWoo, I've tagged this on after the Highland Fling at the end of April, knowing that three weeks after a 53 mile race won't have the legs in perfect running order, but hoping it'll make for a good final "training" run before the marathon. Based on what's not on the race website, it's all a bit of a magical mystery tour. Rumours of buses are great, but it'd be nice to have details of some sort, like times for these, etc. Sure it'll pan out before we get there. |

Little bit more than rumors when you can actually book them, but yes I agree that times and pick up points would be helpful!!

Andy you should look forward to a 3 week taper. I had a great marathon one month after a 33mile run but going down from 54mile is a whole different thing.

Glad to see all the ultra runners getting their excuses in nice and early! I'll be using London as a similar reason for not smashing myself around Stirling.

I think about everyone that I train with that's doing Stirling is also doing it off the back of the Fling. Other than 1 slacker that's only doing Manchester beforehand. I agree with Andy, some of the details are pretty vague although I've not looked at the site since I signed up a few weeks back. |

Someone mentioned yesterday that the entry 'closing date' is in a couple of weeks - I thought there was a 2,000 limit or am I imagining that?

Closing date is 17th Jan, there was mention of a 5000 limit back in May. Facebook questions as to how many have entered are met with a vague it's in the 1000s. If my work place is anything to go by there may be a high attrition rate of DNS, anecdotally 75% of those who entered in various departments are no longer doing it

That's worrying.. why would they close entries on a race that's not full, nearly 4 months before the race date. I hope this does not mean a lack of committment to actually having it go ahead ?
