Last Night of the Proms

Now, I like jingoistic, thumping music as much as the next man/woman/however you wish to define yourself, and have watched and enjoyed the concert for many years.

A few things grated for me this weekend and I don't think I'll bother again.

Some different tunes at the end of the night would be good
The 'Prommers' I - Look at the first 20 rows. They've made an effort to look like that on a Saturday night
The 'Prommers' II - Yeah, keep tooting your horns during the music. It's hilarious.

Or maybe Paul Hollywood has good reason to believe that he doesn't owe the BBC anything. And his business record is so dismal that he may need the money.

Er, I don't get you. Duran Duran aren't a sacred cow. They're a moderately successful early to mid 80s pop group, that you probably have never cared for.

Yes?

They'll probably be a sacred cow when they die.

About This Thread

Maintained by GregP
Regular listeners of FT will know about this one. What national 'treasure' do you feel would be better on a skip rather than on a pedestal?

Someone (an MK Dons supporter) proposed AFC Wimbledon, about whom everyone gets misty eyed but he hated.

Other nominations included Bruce Forsyth and Seb Coe.

We were discussing this on the Rugby Wire (whch unforgivably is *not* called "y wifren rygbi ") as Martin Johnson was nominated.

It was suggested that a wider audience might enjoy the challenge.
