Yes, it's a fad, but blimey, my 14 year old left the house without bribery, nagging or threats! And there must have been 100 people out playing in town, it's quite amazing.
Anyone else playing? I have no idea about how to play, I didn't understand the 10+ years my kids spent obsessing over Pokemon when they were little so I'm unlike to understand anything about it now...

I was quite fond of Pokemon back in the day when there were only 150 different creatures, but it got too big for me.
Around that time, my cousin had two children and actually called them Jessie and James

My son (28 years old) told me that something-or-other was to be found on the parkrun course this morning. I have no idea what that means, but we did seem to have more juniors running today than we have had for a while

I'm playing, although I haven't really worked out what I'm doing. I keep managing to catch flufflewumps and piggledoos and stuff (or something: can't remember what most of them are called) and hung round after parkrun to hunt stuff down, and I worked out how to get more balls, although I'm not good enough to be allowed in a gym yet (but I did find a gym, and I'm on level 4, so only 1 more to go before I can go and get my pokemons fighting but I'm not sure that's the kind of thing a responsible adult should want the creatures in their charge to do). I don't really get what all the bits and pieces are: I understand pokemons kind of mutate but I'm not sure how that all works.

The kids are on level 3, I think the servers went down so they gave up and scooted home and caught 3 on their way. We're going out tomorrow when I get back from my run. Perfect timing with the school hols coming up

I've got a bulbasaur so far. I haven't a clue how it works but I'm game. I saw a few children out yesterday afternoon on my way home from school.

If you get enough of one kind of Pokemon, one of them will evolve into what it evolves into eg Pikachu becomes Raichu. This is all I know although I have a fondness for Pokemon since my son was so into it when he was little; the same son has spent his first wages ever (from a summer job at the Next warehouse order picking) on a new phone expressly for the purpose of playing Pokemon Go!

I'm in, but work seems to be the only place nearby that has things to catch. It's a little bit tricky as Vice Principal to be wandering around gazing at my iphone!

My daughter caught two from her bedroom since they were so close which explains the bunch of pasty, white geeky types wandering up and down the road over the past few days.

Who is this "mongo" and why does everyone suddenly want to poke him?
