I am with Fetch on this one.
Think wiki and even parkrun, both amazing things that you can make better if you want.
I must admit I block the ads, my browser does so by default and I feel a little guilty about it. I HATE adverts therefore I will GLADLY pay and I like car stickers.

I'll happily give £25 a year, I spend most of my online time here and want to help keep it the amazing place it is.

I'm happy to pay £2 a month (give or take) considering how much my life has changed, mainly down to this site (& running, of course!)

I've happily just coughed up £25, no need for a pin or badge or whatever though. I've used and abused the website for years and it deserves the dosh (I do really love that it's not auto-renewable, those really really irritate me). And after all, British Airways charged me an extra £50 for single standard suitcase to be checked in the other day, and what have those greedy bastards ever done for me except given me bad customer service

For all Fetch has given me, the great people I've met and great time I've had it would have been Scrooge like to not pay.

I'm hoping Fetch will read the "crowd funding" suggestions and allow us to perhaps see what things might get paid for e.g. a sponsorship of a big race or something that gets loads of people in to Fetch (I'm sure folk could think of much better examples than that).
BTW Fetch, you can turn my ads back on, if it helps. Apart from girls with no clothes on and stuff (which I moaned about a few years ago) I don't even see ads.
Lots of great Fetch love and practical suggestions coming flooding in, as always. G

Crash Hamster
I'm a bit confused; so what do Hearst do? If the website sinks or swims on advertising revenue (and needs subscribers to keep it afloat) does this mean that Hearst are putting nothing in? f they're putting nothing in, but we could keep it afloat by subscribing, couldn't it be bought back off them and put in Fetch's hands again?
I would (and will) support the site, even if it's owned by a corporate, but I'd rather be a shareholder (with no benefits) in an independent, Fetch-owned-and-run, fetch. (see also the Amazon link: I have felt no desire to click through it to earn Hearst a percentage, but I would for Fetch...)

The best things you can spend your money on are things that do two things; 1 - Give you something in return that you find is great value for the money 2 - Give you a feeling that you are helping another person realise their potential and be able to continue working on what they are best at and what in turn allows them to contribute the most to the world.
I buy lots of coffee and burgers and running shorts and beer. I know many of the people I buy these from are not really loving what they do. In these cases I only really get the satisfaction of a thing that is worth the money I paid for it, which is still OK.
Over the past few years I've seen lots of friends take a plunge and leave a job they didn't like and focus on something that they loved doing and ipso facto brought the most value to the world. Centurion Running, Like the Wind Magazine, Ultra Magazine are three examples of where friends of mine have decided that they are not really doing much positive stuff in the job they are in and instead could do so much better producing something of much greater value.
In buying these products I feel that warm glow on two levels. It's nice. I am getting something great for my money and I am also helping someone continue doing what they love and what ultimately will be the best realisation of human potential.
Anyhoo, I've known Mr Fetch for about a year now. I see he is doing exactly what he was born to do here. He could obviously get a proper job doing web development for some big company. Perhaps he could work for John Lewis and then those times when I buy some lampshade online for £500 I will only get the satisfaction from such a bargainous lightbulb holder and none of the satisfaction from the fraction of my money that would go to Mr Fetch for making sure the font for the lamp is on brand and DDA compliant.
I think these people are all incredibly brave for putting themselves out there in this way. To provide a product/service and to encourage us to value it by paying for it.
I'm sure I had a point in all this. It was probably to encourage everyone to pay. Yeah that was it. I paid and in return I got a great thing and a great sense of satisfaction that I was helping someone improve the running world.
OK I'll stop banging on now. Good job I don't write for a living.
PS - I want my money back if Daz posts any more horrendous jokes. PPS - So will ads for my book not appear now?

I practically live here. Been wondering when Fetch would notice and start charging rent.
I may be in a minority, but I don't care about the ads. I can just ignore most of them.

What ads ? Presume someone hasput an ad blocker on my laptop as I never see any !!!
I willmost likely pay as I really like Fetch, all my running logged here, and £10 a year for all the coaching I get is pretty invaluable
