Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

From a discussion on FB - there's another 9yo in Australia with a faster time. So clearly they've just tried to self-source the info and the news outlets haven't validated it.

parkrun.com.au there's a JM10 with 17:30, and the age grade indicates they are also 9 (also word of mouth observation from the lad's uncle on the parkrun stats group).

Going to be in London in a few weeks. Staying in Rotherhithe. Going to do a parkrun (slowly).

Obviously Southwark is closest parkrun, but open to other suggestions....

I like Crystal Palace, accessible via the ginger line (Penge West) and you can see the dinosaurs afterwards

Alternatively Dulwich is very quick if you fancy a PB attempt but not sure of how to get there by public transport or if it’s runnable as I got a lift when I did it

I did suspect that. From reading what is available it just looked like it was the parents and/or local team driving this and then sending it to the media.

Kudos to the kid of course and don't mean to rain on his parade.

I've done the parade rainfall by pointing it out on the Poole parkrun page. Politely, of course, but I don't like misinformation!

I wish I hadn't read the comments elsewhere. Far fewer congratulations and more gnashing of teeth that parkrun isn't a race.

According to parkrun itself, it's *not* a race.

And obviously setting a fast age group time is not racing.

Are you not racing the record time?

Also, don't world records have to be set under racing conditions? I thought there was something in the rules about that.
