I was trying to work out who the heck Mud Meanderer was for a second. But sounds a decent race either way Muddy! While I'd like to put some strong fast 5ks in this summer, I also look forward to some random 10k Mt type stuff myself. |

Took 2 extra rest days off then, plus my usual Sat. Sunday 5 Today 8 Obviously a bit warmer feeling and generating more sweat then when 100%, but a return at least. Had aimed to race 5k tomorrow, but no advantage in that at all, so will hope progress continues, Track Friday is doable, then go again in a week. |

Quite sensible Stevie, I tend to wipe out a fortnight when I pick up a virus, or worse for Covid. Fortunately not had much this year … Paced parkrun for 20 mins on Saturday, which was very humid and felt like much more work than a similar 19 mins pacing job the week before at a different location. It was a hillier course, so that won’t have helped. Easy run after a long drive last night - couldn’t face a long run, and today is always a rest day. Back to it tomorrow! |

@Sorequads My daughters do gymnastics but they don't take it seriously and the teachers are a bit crap. They don't do home conditioning as they don't do it competitively and go just once a week for an hour. Still they can do all sorts of flips and aerials and stuff so they've certainly learnt to do things with their bodies that will stand them in good stead. I had an anniversary overnight stay on Friday in the New Forest so only did an easy morning run Friday. Got back Saturday afternoon so did a 90 minute ride with 1 minute at 310w and 3 minutes at 270w 15 times continously. Sunday's long run was a bit of a struggle, perhaps too manys G&Ts on the Friday. That was 45 minutes easy, 4 x 1km tempo (3:50, 3:56, 4:00. 3:42) and 20 minutes easy. Generally the reps were into the wind so not too bad. Monday was 2 hours on the bike with 2 x 20 minutes at around 270w followed by a 28 minute brick run with 4 x 4 minutes. Eased into it with around 6:10 pace and then 5:52, 5:45 & 5:45 with around 7:00 for the recoveries. 2.6k swim in the evening. Race on sunday so this week will be a bit of a mini taper job. |

@Foppotee it’s amazing what they can do, isn’t it. I’ve only really started to appreciate it fully having seen the progression from seemingly very basic movements to things and I can’t even comprehend. Good run paces from you, especially so with the brick. Good luck for Sunday, hope the weather is kind. Good work on the pacing @Muddyfunster Sensible to bin the race, @stevieg Another solid parkrun for me: 18:55 on the summer course. I was actually quite keen for a return to the winter course as it is flatter and the sections usually very muddy and slippery would have been in good nick. Started the Lydiard base phase yesterday with 4M easy into 4M steady. 7:45s for easy, which is faster than usual, but a bit of descent and some tailwind at times. Out and back into the steady which came out at 6:58s. Meant to be 30-45s slower than MP so this was prob a bit hard but it’s a challenge to know the exact feeling earlier in a block. 5M easy this morning - again focusing on the fine differences between this and ‘very easy’. A pleasing 8:11 average. But a more relaxed 0730 vs 0500 start certainly helped. Race tomorrow - Cleeve Cloud Cuckoo. £8 and in my top three favourites I reckon. |

Got a cold with the Covid style sinus headache every morning. Basically body a bit run down from racing and lack of sleep, then get pissed up in Manchester and the hangover turns into a cold. Really properly need to drink less on a big day out. 5 Just praying it's not the 50 day cough I got in December... |

I saw a clip of a vague acquaintance recently Reggie, doing a sort of mid air front somersault. Using a trampoline, so "easier" than from a standing ground start, but I just cannot understand the pure power and flexibility of people who can do these things. They must take so many spills and falls before they get good! |

And it is slightly disturbing how you can go from monstering tempos feeling fine to suddenly knowing a day or 3 off is needed with no notice, Makes you wonder about entering races months ahead! However, 6 & 3 today, getting there. 6&4 at Slough tomorrow, then a single 8 Thur and hopefully all back into either Friday track or even a Sat parkrun. But day by day! These midweek races can be great @Sorequads. Though I need to get back in the mindset for them, as usually by 5pm I'm ready to lie / lounge about for the evening. Tonight's summer series 5k looks to have been an overcast / wet one which probably dulled the spirit after, as the chats can usually go on for hours after. But have turned the group chat off for a day or 2 to avoid the serious FOMO from what I expect will be 100s of posts revelling in it. Great if you're involved, not so much if not ![]() |

Speedy recovery to all, but especially @LBAC Si . I know "that" rundown feeling, where you feel a bit warm headed, get that a good few times a year. Always the point to get even more rest and fluid onboard. Then a couple of times a year it drops over the boundary into a coldy thing. |

Hope it’s not Covid @LBAC Si The cold I picked up last BH w/e seems to have impacted my running for over 3 weeks now despite only lasting a few days. Hope you’re right @stevieg You had such a promising start to 2025’s racing form. (Provisionally) July 15th it is @Sorequads Just need confirmation we can still use the car park field before applying for the licence & opening entries. Ticking over here c.40 mpw. HR elevated still & legs aching after an hour in the 8:30-9:30 range so not done anything fast in almost a month, other than parkrun. |
