Isn't the maximum your body can absorb 60g carbs per hour, which from gels would be about 150 calories?

You can push that a bit if you combine carb sources like maltodextrin and fructose

Relentless forward progress by Bryon Powell quotes 250-400 calories per hour. I’ve tended to go a bit lower than that range

I guess it depends how hard you are pushing it. Cooler conditions with slower pace, I can get more in.

Also you burn fat while running so you certainly don’t need to get anywhere near the calories burnt total

That's my take on the situation. As long as you have a steady supply of carbs (little and often), the body has sufficient fat to tap into for hundreds of miles.

200 calories is 330ml of coke plus 3 Percy pigs.

I think it is easy to grab a lot more than 300 calories in one go particularly when smashing down cups of coke. Not necessarily a good plan

I couldn’t eat 200-400 per hour anyway and I’m very slow haha. Beer calories are the best!
