Thank you Geordiegirl - I will try samples of everything, but I think sticking to food and water with the occasional Gel (Gu lemon ones are nice, the salted caramel ok but couldn't take many) I'm not sure I can cope with the faffing of making up drinks - it's messy enough doing it for someone else at a checkpoint when I'm not the one who's been running Anyway - I have more than enough fat to burn and my long "runs" will certainly be slow |

Not long enough to be long run fuelling but I did the Paras10 again today (my all time fav race) so I normally would turn up run and that’s it but I used it as a fuel training. I was running with my mam so nice and steady for me. I only had active root but tried eating some sweets and Kendal mint cake all round. I finished and for the first tine ever managed to feel hungry and had some chips at the end. I also found when shopping yesterday a soloman waist belt it came with the soft flask in it and had plenty room to put snacks in so I am hoping I’m now sorted for Loch Ness I’ll keep you posted. Tha sks I icy again to you all |

I had a race in France where the aid stations had French bread, cheese, and saucisson/salami. Sparkling water or coke to drink. I typically go for primarily sweet but savoury as a back up. Aim for 200-300 calories an hour. Lots of different things can work |

I had a race where I was sick and peanut butter+jam wraps sorted me out. If I’m pushing the pace, I go for carb drinks like tailwind/high5/coke etc. And switch to more solid/proper foods as I slow down

200-300 calories an hour!!! Bloody hell during my 30 hours DNF of the UTLD100 that would have been 6,000 - 9,000 calories. I doubt I consumed half that!

300 per hour puts me at 2400 Garmin said I burnt 3725 during the run so that’s not a bad aim. I think I’d have been lucky to eat 800cal no wonder I struggle. Lots of practicing to be done.

But dependent on intensity, do you really need to consume 200-300 calories per hour?
