I've done over 300 laps of Bushy parkrun and have never found it boring! I'm doing a 17 lap marathon in the summer (Kent Roadrunner), not sure whether I'll like it or not, but all the feedback is hugely positive and no-one has said it's boring.

Obviously not 300 laps at once. Over 300 in total over 9 years.

I ran the first three Kent Roadrunners, Kirsty, and they have all been incredibly sociable. Sadly, I can't make it this year. The course is slightly undulating and you can see other runners across the venue. One of our Fetchies, RFJ, often runs the race in the opposite direction, giving encouragement to everyone.

I'm trying to convince my mate to do Kent Roadrunners, I think it'll be great he's not keen on so many laps though

One of my friends Excitabubble is doing KRR as her first marathon. I'll be there to support on the day, as soon as I can get across from running the Shorne Woods Parkrun
I am not sure if I'd cope with racing the KRR with it is multi laps but would give it a try I guess.
At the moment I'm reading "Running Beyond The Marathon - Insights Into The Longest Foot Race In The World" by Grahuk Cunningham. It's about the Self Transcendence 3100 Mile Race held on a concrete footpath round a 883 metre New York city block in the middle of summer. To finish it, you have to do 5,649 laps over a maximum of 51 days...
I'm half way through the book and still asking 99% why? (and 1% how soon, realistically, could I do this? )

Boring's all in the head of the beholder, innit? I've been bored in races, but not because the races were in themselves boring (White Peak Marathon twice, Windermere Marathon just once of the 16 times I've run the route) but because of factors that had nothing to do with the race. And I've enjoyed races that are generally considered "boring" because on that day I was enjoying the experience of racing.
The only reason not to put on a race is that nobody wants to run it.

See - more positivity re KRR :o) I've met RFJ before, so that would be nice. I'm not sure about 'Team Sexy' though...?!

I'd a thread on similar, Damien. Started by my reflections on a particularly dull race. Given the consistently small fields it attracts (especially considering it is a potentially quite fast race in a decent slot on the calendar with a massive potential catchment area) not many would lament its passing from boring race to "no race". (Apart from the guy who wins it every year, probably.)
