Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

My Mudclaws seem really good so far BB - need to be careful on wet rock mind you but they are great on mud, grass and loose stuff...

I might look into it. Does being an overpronator make a difference with X-country/offraod shoes?

I wondered about that and asked the bloke in the shop who said that proper off road running although hard work is a lot less percusive stress on your body due to the 'give' in the terrain. Basically the mud, grass etc are kinder to your feet etc and thus you don't really need that much cushioning if any. That seems to make sense to me but I think you have to be a bit careful because it is more stress in other ways such as ankles and sending knee joints into awkward angles etc..

He also said that like anything else if you are used to road running you need to ease into it. I always do at least one off road training run per week and really look forward to it. I can now happily do 12 miles or so off road in my Mudclaws to no ill effects whatsover. Totally different running though and I love it :-)

Hmmm... I only really need it for the Bushy Park/Wimbledon Common timetrials, which in winter are muddy in places, but still quite a lot of stone track running.

Hi Gobi, yes good running that.

What are your thoughts on off road shoes, cushioning etc?

On some of the trails I just use my trainers but it's a bit tricky at times cos if there is lots of loose sharp stuff you feel like you need the rock guard but not particularly the gripping studs. I tried some saucony trail shoes that were sort of half and half but just hated them...
