Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

My run was yesterday - midnight race at Milford. Excellent!! Was dry heaving for a few minutes after the effort on the hill finish. Closed down and took 3 other runners in last 200 metres... damn that felt good :-)

Is your tear grade 1,2 or 3

The way to tell - can you walk now? can you lift yourself off the floor on to your toes with both feet? with one foot yet? can you feel a lump where it hurts or is there a gap?

If it is 1 then it will be pain free in 3 - 4 days and you need to start stretching furiously both with knee bent and straight from day 4 and give it 2 weeks.

Grade 2 multiply all times above by 2 and graqde 3 you may need to look at 3 months off or even see a surgeon to get it back together.

From what you say it sounds like you may have gone from grade 1 (stiff that you continued on) -> 2

I too did this the Thursday before Christmas. Tried a Boxing day run and made things bad again.

As I sit here the calf still feels tight. I am now stretching +++ and have tried a few steps around the house running pose. And all is well but I will give it another week before I go out on the road. The big probelm with these tears is that they feel fine for several days before they get strong enough to run on and going back out too early just sets you back to square one.
