His name's Gabe Sherman (yes American!). e-mail : gabesherman@mac.com Article : slate.com Called : "Running with Slowpokes" - How sluggish newbies ruined the marathon. The article dates from September but my podcaster friend only reddened my ear in this week's podcast. The sad thing is that Mr Sherman is only in his mid twenties and is a 2:50 marathoner. I told him when he toed the line in his next race everyone would hate him. "real runners respect all runners whatever their ability" I told him conveniently forgetting how p'ed off I was when a rhino overtook me on the mall in the 2000 London! I even found his photo and posted it on a messageboard in the US! It must be something to do with QPR getting beaten 3-0 that has unhinged me, I think - that and having to hide from the x-factor again. |

r.e. gabe sherman - what an arse. so he's saying that unless you're at olympic level you shouldn't compete in a sport? 99.9% of us might as well give up now. well done coffeeman - would love to see if he is recognised at his next marathon! |

Rigamorph. The podcast "Phedippidations" is actually pretty good and to hear this totally chilled Steve Runner guy unloading with indignation was strangely satisfying. I think all Fetchies would feel the same having read the article. Maybe 5191 registered fetchies should e-mail Gabe and tell him what a tosser he is. Spam of the highest quality indeed. |

Ran 5.67 yesterday but not been able to get near the pc since. It was very hard which does make me wonder if I'll get round 10k next Sunday.

Keefy Beefy
Did 6.9 miles and felt good again. I think the injury is beaten and can hopefully go for 4 runs next week!
