Ditto. I take Monday's off. Pretty good though, given my legs feel fairly beaten up. 50 miles last week, with long slow 20m on Sat followed by 4.5m recovery last night. Legs felt good though (much easier running than walking?!?!) so I popped in some 2min intervals.
TMW - that's quite some mileage. Is the back to back LRs training yourslef up for your three-in-a-row?

I actually dislike Monday as a day off and am finding the ridged structure quite hard as I feel good and do not think I need it.

Rest day IanM? Lazy! Well done for yesterday, great race report
My Saturday run was, once again, rubbish. Set off with the intention of an unambitious 10K in 1 hour, but my heart rate went through the roof again - 178 - so I backed off and did 9.75 instead, and didn't enjoy any of it. I'm wondering if I've got some kind of bug. I know running in 30C is a bit tough, especially in a stuffy gym on a treadmill, but really, 178bpm at 10min/mile? Learnt my lesson for Sunday, and decided to dodder along at 9kph for about half an hour. Much more comfortable, HR at 157 and more importantly, I enjoyed it

Katie, thanks it was interesting yesterday to say the least Are you ok? Your HR has been quite high on a few training runs now. You could be fighting a virus or something, what's your morning RHR? Is that higher than normal too? Wise to back off definitely but maybe a few days rest is in order too?
Good luck to you TMW, scares the sh!t outta me just thinking about it

Yesterday was a tough but enjoyable hilly 9 miler. Beautiful weather and scenery. Didn't enjoy getting a bit lost and running in the wrong direction for a while. Had to check my whereabouts with a couple of cyclists. I wasn't really lost I just wasn't where I thought I was.
Afterwards I went to Alice Holt (where topcorner was racing) for a picnic and walk with Mrs D and the kids. Should really have done the 10k there. Will do next year. Said that last year.

IanM - my RHR has always been quite high, usually about 60-65 when I'm at home. It's been even higher ever since I got to India - consistently 70-75 or so, probably mostly the heat but also some culture shock and stress. I've had a lot of rest recently (only ran 98km in August because we had visitors from England so I was acting as tour guide) so I'm sure I'm not overdoing it runningwise, so I think maybe I am just a little under the weather. I felt tons better yesterday for dropping right off the pace, so I'll stick with that for a couple of days and see what happens. I'm happy as long as my HR stays at around 160 or so - with a RHR of 75 and maxHR of 200 that's about 70%, so as long as I keep with the slow ambling I should be OK. If even that pace makes my heart rate shoot up than I'm going to lie in a ice bath for a few days

TMW - speaking of you being a nutter, did I see you pop up on the RW 24 hour thread recently?
