Sorry, thought I'd lost that post - every time I post when at Benni's on my Mac, it hangs and I have to restart the browser! Tedious but true.

Hendo - good point!! Sorry I hadn't quite thought that one through had I
Flanker - not an etrex but Edge 205, which I used to use for running as well before getting a Forerunner.

Sorry I can't help with the actual problem but have you tried deleting the Garmin history just for the days/weeks that you have already uploaded? and then try upload some more.

do the other runs get listed on the import selection page, or is it just the last week's worth you get?

JohnJ's blog reminded me of this, so am posting my comments on here fyi. There are a few people I know who are suddenly finding it's taking longer to lock on to a GPS signal. As this happened to me last time I needed to update my unit, I just checked again, and lo and behold there's new software and GPS chipset available!

Find the "Garmin Updater" in the Garmin folder on your PC and run the updates. Also - put your 305 outside for a few minutes while you get ready for your run, and wait until you have a signal before you run! If it's not, then run the updater.

I locked on in seconds tonight, so not sure it is a generic problem.
The other tip for speeding up acquiring a signal is to *stand still* while it gets its fix.

Cheers Hendo, I was already up to date, but, it is nice to know that
Just my dress sense that is out of date. I must put away my Autumn wardrobe now.

Hendo, how many points are you using to make your course? I think you need the sort of trackpoint density that the Garmin lays down when recording your run, and if you're using a point at each turn in the course or something like that, it may be getting confused by reckoning you're closer to something in the middle of the figure 8 than at the start if you see what I mean? I've never had any trouble at all with courses, but they've all been very dense.
If you just want to set in a few waypoints then in Garmin-speak that's a route, not a course, and it ought to be less hassle.
