Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Signed up and moved my home point to work, as I'll be going for a walk from here at lunchtime.

These instructions confused me:

Each run you do will automatically start from the centre of your grid. You do not need to move your grid before each run.
Bear this in mind when checking the map. Be sure to centre it on your INTENDED START POINT!

Does this mean I do need to move my grid, or don't need to move my grid?

I need to find a good way of saying it.

Basically, every time you go out, you'll start from the home square in your grid. You don't need to tell the game if you're gonna be somewhere else, it'll just do it. BUT for the purposes of planning, it's a good idea to centre your grid on your next intended start point. Does that make sense?

It says the grid starts in total shadow. Mine doesn’t? I’ve got a 9x9 round the home point with added squares at NSEW, if that makes sense. Also I still don’t quite understand the move/don’t move your grid answer above! Does it mean the grid you’ll see when you plan your run is the grid that will exist wherever you start from?

That sounds more understandable to me. I'm going to move my home back to home and then walk from work and see if what happens matches my understanding of what you just said. I'll report back...

"It says the grid starts in total shadow"

Ok, so I've made a few visible for atmosphere :-)

"Does it mean the grid you’ll see when you plan your run is the grid that will exist wherever you start from?"

Have done my walk and for now I am the leader!

Thoughts so far.

Can there be a find me button as I'm not sure whether or not I got the money you could see originally - I can now see £44 worth of money but only have £36

How near do you need to be to get the item?

Will the money I've uncovered stay there - could I get it again if I went out again?

Can only I see what I've uncovered?

I can see it better on a computer than my phone. And I don't have any tactics. Yet

I’ve scored 12 but I have no idea how. Before my work I could see one bag of gold, now I don’t see it, so I guess I picked it up but don’t know if that was the 12 or just part of the 12?

About This Thread

I have decided to build a new version of Fetchpoint, and for now at least I am calling it Fetchworld.

The original Fetchpoint was first launched in 2011 - and I don't know of anything else that was like it at the time. The closest thing I was aware of at the time was geocaching - but nothing virtual like this. It predated Pokemon Go by five years :-)

As with any code project, what started as a relatively clean chunk of code has taken on various bug fixes, workarounds and the code equi...
