Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

If a castle’s value has fallen to zero, no value is displayed.

Ahh, thwarted by the start point. I must have started slightly further along my road than I thought I was, so the bag of £80 on my planned route was now not on the road but in somebodys back garden instead.

4 miler for me this morning, a different loop to the 7.5 yesterday. Got more points this time, which was a nice surprise. Definitely thinking in terms of loops rather than my usual out and backs.

So parkrun tomorrow: I guess I can not bother changing any settings and it'll superimpose a trace of Tamworth Castle parkrun, but it'll all be a surprise as to what I collect. Or I can move my start point to the parkrun start and see what items I'm likely to pick up, which I'd need to do shortly before I leave, rather than the night before, or stuff will all have refreshed overnight. Or I can look at the Tamworth Castle route, which is very loopy round a small footprint of area and decide actually a different parkrun would uncover more darkness when superimposed onto the grid, as whatever I do, it'll go from 0,0.

Have I got this right? Whatever I do in settings, when I press go on the Garmin it will put me in 0,0. And if I make strategic decisions at 7am on which parkrun to do, will the things probably remain in place for the next couple of hours, or if another Fetchie who's playing goes to that parkrun and is faster than me (quite possible) then there's nothing left for me.

Could there be a whole heap of fun added into the mix by having stuff refreshing frequently between 9 and 10 on a Saturday morning?

Earlier today I managed to take over a castle (-4,18) (sorry 57.5 Degrees of Pain), but it doesn't appear in my inventory. Should it?

They don't appear in your inventory, but your name shows when you click on the castle on the map.

About This Thread

I have decided to build a new version of Fetchpoint, and for now at least I am calling it Fetchworld.

The original Fetchpoint was first launched in 2011 - and I don't know of anything else that was like it at the time. The closest thing I was aware of at the time was geocaching - but nothing virtual like this. It predated Pokemon Go by five years :-)

As with any code project, what started as a relatively clean chunk of code has taken on various bug fixes, workarounds and the code equi...
