STATUS Growing my Conquercise lawn. Wondering if there will be any races soon for me to aim for.
I started running Summer 2008. Didn't run before that and also wasn't doing any other regular exercise.
I entered a Cancer Research 10k with seven weeks to go as a challenge to myself to get fit. Not only did it go well, I really enjoyed the training and the race itself so I kept at it.
When the weather is good I love meandering runs enjoying the outdoors; I live by a canal so that's a regular. When it's less good I enjoy the feeling I get afterwards and I like mixing up with games too, mostly the ones here: WSW, Conquercise, Fetchpoint.
2019 was the best year yet. Discovered parkrun tourism (I was already a fan of running my local parkrun), ran more miles than ever, got a half marathon PB (probably my favourite distance) and did a first marathon in nearly a decade!
2020 is mostly about a couple of Spring marathons. And the games. Might have a go at getting some PBs at some point...

What’s the best bit of advice that you would give to new runners, bikers and swimmers?
Your body's super-power is that it is adaptable and responds to practice. Take it easy, but keep doing it, and you will likely just get better and better.
