Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I was also there for the prizes Minnie, we must have been practically rubbing shoulders :-) I was over in the corner next to the Northern Monk beer stand (surprise).

Well done to your partner, a sub-five finish is really good. Bobs also had a good race, despite a bit of a chronic injury she's carrying

👍

Someone else said 10.06 but thought that was Kim Collison's time last year which I didn't think sounded right. He got the previous female record holder right. I forgot about the route change because I guess that road descent through Outershaw, for one, changes things quite drastically.

Conditions yesterday were ideal for a fast time, but she absolutely beasted it and wasn't even close to second.

Jez still has the overall record but that was on the old course over Fleet Moss. (I think that was my DNF year :-/) Since then the course has changed at least twice and with all the road that has been introduced is significantly faster both in terms of terrain and not needing to nav Fleet Moss.

Especially since the last change removed that horrible climb back to Middle Tongue after Yockenthwaite. A CP many found difficult to locate in addition to the physical difficulty.

They also allow use of GPS, etc, too, so a lot of the nav is theoretically reduced if you want anyway.

Nic won the women's race at 3P as well 😍 god she is amazing.

Another former clubmate came in 8th in the women's as well.

Walk receed the Pommie Panter. Some tough styles and gates to work through late on in the course and one bit where the line wasn't clear (hope to follow someone else 😂).

Quick etiquette question. There's a section where there is an almost switchback to go around a few field walls. The walls have fallen down so it would be much quicker to turn left in the field and slip the switchback. I'm assuming one would need to run the course as mapped in this case?

Has that gone now as well? It was a bit of a slog. lt's all getting a bit soft ;-)

I do remember trying to find that in clag that almost hid my compass never mind the terrain. IIRC hit the rocks from the path bend, which was relatively easy, and then blind on a bearing from there. They had a beacon on the tent that was only visible from about 10 yards.

CPs are Fleet Moss, (down the road for 3 - 4 miles) to Deepdale then a tricky traverse to Chapel Moor.

I struggled to work out where Chapel Moor was going to be last year and probably went too high. This year I knew what I was doing.

I’ve seen two different versions of previous routes. One over Fleet Moss and the other down the road but I think went to Middle Tongue before Chapel Moor.

This year we also had very dry conditions (I only stumbled into 2 bogs), no rain during the event at all I don’t think and little fog until at least much later into the night and it wasn’t cold. Climate change for you?! Perhaps it needs to be moved to March!

Those are the two variants I've done. Maybe I need to go back and do the new one as it may be only chance of a PB these days :)

I couldn't see my feet for the fog and rain around Middle Tongue to Hells Gap. Bloody horrible. I wore all my clothes.

We're probably talking about the same year Flanker!
