Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Well, it isn't definitely not a chiffchaff.

(You could probably measure the length of the primaries on that photo to check it wasn't a Willow Warbler!)

Unlikely a Willow Warbler up here.

Here's a picture of its back if that's helpful?

North East Scotland. Just checked the RSPB app and you're right, they should be around. I didn't think we did. We do get a lot of Chiffchaffs though, hear them every day.

sad morning here. Out on my run in the Great Park and I wondered why there were so many crows lining the roadside. The clever buggers were safely waiting for the crossing froglets to provide a very easy mid-morning snack 🐸🙁.

Then I got home and the garden was mad full of baby birds. Tits, robins, thrush (I think), blackbirds, parakeets. I went to make a cuppa and there was a thud on the back window. A juvenile blackbird was writhing around. Thankfully it was dead by the time I got outside.

More positively, a nuthatch on my run too. Feeding on the ground which I thought quite unusual to see.

Goosander with 5 (maybe 6) young, on my local river this lunchtime. Quite big, well grown chicks (ducklings, goosanderlings?).

Sad, WW. Never seen a nuthatch on the ground - that's interesting!

Anyone know what this type of egret this is. I wondered if it was just a little egret but the tuft on the back of the head made me doubt. Had yellow feet.
