Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Do I really need to replace my shoes?

I agree with Fleecy but for me it seems to be my ankles that start niggling when shoes are becoming worn.

I wasn't expecting such a consensus, but glad to see it! Thanks for all your suggestions.

The mileage limits for shoes are set by the manufacturers who, unsurprisingly, want you to buy new shoes.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it

Interesting to hear what everyone has to say here.

I start to get niggles after about 250 to 300 miles in my shoes, which seems very low. As I'm 5'10" and not exactly a stick insect, I'm wondering if I'm at the heavy end of what women's trainers are designed to cope with.

Is it worth trying the men's version of the same shoe to see if it lasts better (on the basis that it's designed to cope with a heavier runner)? Or is the fit very different so I'd be risking injuries? I seem to be very injury-prone as it is and have found a shoe that works for me but it just doesn't last.

I always think it's a bonus if I get more than 350 miles out of a pair of shoes - and so does my husband's wallet ;-)

I would suggest you buy a new pair and then switch between both pairs to break the new pair in and phase out the old ones. That way your covered and you can do a like for like comparison.

My Saucony Triumph 11s surpassed 2000km this week, which I have used as a justification to splash out on the Triumph ISO 4s :)

Well done on your shoe longevity :-). Hope you get as much distance from the next pair.

(Came up on sidebar.)

Wonder how Sampson's Triumph ISO 4s went? I have acquired a pair of the same - if I got half the distance they did from their previous shoes, I'd be well happy. 1000 km is very much top end for me and are heavier shoes which tbh will be disintegrating at that point.

My shoes reach self distruction at 500miles. They start to show signs of wear. I start my next pair before finish the first and then use the old ones for walking
