Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I’ve invented a new word today, “dismolished” and a new saying “I can’t hear myself concentrate.”

I think that’s a pretty good day’s work.

Sarah, it usually takes ages for them to find a feeder, but then they tell each other! And are all over it.

I had one of those window feeders Sarah and I'm afraid the birds never took to it and I gave up using it. I have a bunch of feeders in a more distant tree that they love but I have to stand at the window and use binoculars which is a bit of a shame. My mother has a tree close to a window which works really well, we can see the birds easily while we are ourselves eating which is fun.

My newt was giving a seminar on zoom, not a new phenomenon in itself but the first I've done this year, on a recent/ongoing piece of research. It was very useful to have a chat with colleagues, we've been a bit hermit-like over the winter. More contact coming up later this month too. Feels like a bit of an awakening and I'm more positive about work.

I had one on the kitchen window, it was over a bush that the sparrows spend a lot of time in and they took to it really quickly - but the kitchen window has a Venetian blind, so maybe it doesn't look so "window-like" to a sparrow.

When we had the windows changed I forgot to take the feeder off and the flippin' fitters must have thrown it away.

That sounds great JDA

- I think I would have preferred seminars and conferences online to the fear of having to talk to a big room full of strangers. Though I'm glad I don't need to try it now :)

Excellent jingling, all. Really, you all deserve recognition but I don't want to just reproduce the last seven pages again.

Several newts caught really my eye - CC2's leggings of which I am very envious and GM's experiment in home hair styling are joint runners up, but the winner has to be BBL :)

Not just taking a leap to join the creative writing masterclass, or booking a covid jab, but also finally completing on the house sale!
Well done, Baroness!

starblackheartstar The sixth running of Do a New Thing for Spring starblackheartstar

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.

The first few pages of the thread give more ideas.
