I’m guessing if you have a BMI in excess of 40 you may have diabetes too which is one of the illnesses listed as being on the vulnerable list?

They are listed separately JR - not everyone who is (even that) overweight will have diabetes.

I have diabetes and am not overweight. Please don’t assume anyone with type 1 diabetes brought it on themselves through lifestyle, it’s an autoimmune condition.

Thanks EP that could provide a temporary solution. RF I think if its long term and its looking very much that I may never be an office based worker again, I need to set myself up in a home working office. Apart from anything else I can then leave things out and not have to pack and unpack my laptop bag everyday. It will make me get that spare room sorted out once and for all. |

Interesting media comment just now. There were certain activities banned that weren't intrinsically dangerous provided physical distancing observed - eg sitting enjoying the sunset, playing golf. Was this more to keep the message simple? |

This paper from Ben Goldacre et al has used the NHS database as a starting point for working out risk factors. Black and south asians, men, those with uncontrolled, severs asthma or from deprived areas seem to be at most risk, although I haven't read the paper itself yet. Tim - the message has been ‘stay at home’, except for essential activity, which included exercise. Exercise was described as 30 - 60 mins. We could all argue activities that could be down safely, in our view, but I suspect an ‘easy’ rule/guide was needed. |
