Yes, I read that earlier today too. Considering that the largest BM field to date was about 12,500, I'm finding it quite hard to see how those numbers can be accommodated. I recall someone saying something years ago that the Brighton course is much narrower than for London which explains both the difference in participant numbers and the use of cups instead of bottles for safe disposal. It looks as if staggered starts will have to come into play, maybe additional coloured corrals. Course congestion seems inevitable, especially around miles 3 and 8-9. Hopefully, the organisers have something up their sleeves to allow for the significant increase in numbers. |

At one point I thought that we would get a few decent elite runners this year given that London isn't until October and that a qualifying standard would be needed for this summer's European Championships and Commonwealth Games. Sadly, it looks as if anyone falling in that category will be off to Manchester on 3 April as that is being used as the trial event. Anyone who can run 2:30 - 2:40 should be fancying their chances of winning in Brighton this year. Ollie Garrod? |

Thought I'd touch base with you guys. Not a lot coming through from Grounded Events so it seems everything is going OK. I guess the only thing they need to decide is whether to repeat the starting arrangements from September or revert back to the park set up from 2016-2019. Personally, I am considering dropping back from the pink to green corral. More or less recovered from my October op and then picked up a calf strain. Longest run may well be in single figures although I will probably opt for a 20 mile walk at the end of March to compensate. It appears that early marathon runners used that tactic so I'm prepared to give it a go. |

All the best Surrey Phil. I have had to defer due to a pending medical procedure. Hopefully I can then really concentrate my running. |

I deferred my place last week no running since end of November and unlikely to get the go ahead until the end of this month. Then it will be low mileage.

I've deferred sons place. He's behind with training so seems wise

I'm still ok on my training plan, although my legs are suffering a bit from the increased mileage. I was aiming to go for a sub 4 on this (9 minute miles), but now think I will settle for a 4.30 (about 10 minute miles) and aim for a sub 4 on another marathon.

Aw. That’d have been lovely Serendippily but I’ve deferred it until next year. Just not fit enough this year.
