Don't know Dave - maybe the thought conditions just weren't conducive to a record attempt. Saturday was actually a really good weather window (despite what the Inov8 press release says), but the going underfoot was undoubtedly wet and it would have been energy-sapping I guess. Gromit - re. Nicky Spinks .... yes, I know that many people find her inspirational and given her battle with cancer I guess that's all that matters. I'm also glad to hear that you had such a positive experience with her. However, I've personally witnessed her being abominably rude on several occasions and stories of her abrasive and deeply elitist nature are legion among the fell-running community. I don't worship false gods and think that anyone who has that degree of adoration (albeit in a small section of the UK sporting community) should live up to it. It's a personal opinion of course and I can see it's not widely shared in this forum. |

Finlay spent Saturday recceing Leg 2 and Friday he'd looked at the Parachute Drop. So it's coming but I think he'll wait until it's more ideal than last weekend was. As NE says Saturday wasn't bad at all but the ground was wet and there was enough doubt in the forecast to make the risk of it being a wasted effort being too high. I suspect though like his Ramsay the first we will know about it is when it's done or at the very least like Beth's when it's already well down the road. The definitely won't be a press release and he is someone I find truly inspiring!

Weds/Thurs looks a possibility this week if he's hanging around.

I was looking at the forecast and thought the same. God, it could be a spectacular effort .... his support team look like a Who's Who of British fell running.

I guess most of you will have seen that video of Tom Hollins trying to crawl onto the summit of Skiddaw Little Man last Friday .... this was leg 19 of his Wainwrights round (I was supporting this leg), I guess you could say it was a tad breezy. facebook.com |
