And as Tom descended Carol was going up the same hill. Hence the subsequent decision.

Damian Hall is up on schedule and well ahead of where MH was in comparison on his C2C today.

some license / creativity had to be used get MH's splits as a comparison given he didn't have a GPS trace for his run but all the same Damian does seem to have got out of the blocks quickly!

Which is interesting given I've just been reading the bit in his book where he talks about his plan for pacing the PW and states that he couldn't hope to match Mike's early pace and would have to rely on a slower rate of decline.

Damian still well up on schedule but looks like his pace has slowed overnight.

I thought that too Dave. Seems to holding a lead of about 2 hours on virtual Mike and around 1.5 ours on his schedule. So still on target for the record but I suspect it's not going to be by a very big margin by the end, which is testament to the quality of Mike's record.

Dropped 40 mins against schedule on last section - hopefully just a wee rest, or a bad estimate, rather than any problems.
Still 1:09 ahead of schedule and very, very roughly about 20'ish km ahead of the guesstimate of where MH would have been

Mike's pulling together some of his notes in order to write some sort of memoir of his adventures over the years. I'm trying to help him get his notes together / edit a bit in places and so have seen quite a bit of it - he doesn't describe the end of the C2C as too bad, particularly compared with the horror of some others. It might have been the Southern Upland Way race that he describes with most horror but it's hard to remember as there are so many epics!!
Anyway, let's hope Damian keeps on it as well as he has done so far.
