Thoroughly enjoyed my trip, but wasn't exactly struck by the beauty of St Austell town centre - not in a rush to revisit there.. How many can claim to have been the subject of a commercial? Does anyone remember the Chewits advert 'Even tastier than Barrow in Furness bus depot? Though, in fairness, they have improved it in recent years (ie. knocked it down..)

A bit like where I am in fact: hmm, I can get up a couple of pictures of outstanding ugliness without a trip to Cumbernauld. Tbc.

I was born a few miles away in Norton Canes (now famous for the M6 Toll services), my Mum still lives there; the whole area has recovered from the decline of coal mining and rebuilt itself, and the folks are the salt of the earth. But for all that, it's still a pretty ugly place!
