Corona - I didn't really understand the "heart rate" category. The main principle I've understood from heart rate training is to use your heart rate measurement to ensure you're running either gently enough, or hard enough. You can run pretty much every other main category using heart rate as a guide - but I don't think it merits a category of its own, particularly when there's a specific section to compare heart rate data.

HOD - I've always used Easy / Recovery interchangeably to mean the same thing when running. I'd welcome other opinions on that.

S'allright Fetch, I don't do drills, so if I'm using heart rate to control me (which means i'm not doing a long run, race, interval, hill work, tempo etc.) then I book it to Drills. works for me :-)

Easy and recovery are different things to me. Easy running is mostly what I do when not doing a specific 'session' of harder training and I would use if for any length of run up to about 1hr 20 - then we get to med-long territory!

Recovery for me wouldn't be more than about 40-45 mins and would be done at a pace generally even slower than my easy runs.

But everyone has their own ideas about what they call their runs and that's why I think it is great to have as many categories as possible.

Ok - I'll try to remember to discount you when I eventually do some newsletter analysis on drills and their effects on runners :-)

Loca - why not log your "easy" runs as Running-General - because it's just a general 'ticking' over run, and then log your recovery runs as such. You can always add a comment in the comments box saying that it was an easy run to clarify your training.

And on the long run case - a long run is either a long run or it's not. There is no Medium-long run. Yes, your long run might get longer during marathon training and you might add a 2nd long run in, but that's fine. Just log it as another long run. Why over complicate things?

On a personal note, anything less than 13miles (i.e. HM dist) is a normal run. Anything over is a long run. Simples.

Has to be 17 miles to qualify as a LR.
