Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Falcarius, let me correct you! You CAN run intervals; any runner can, but it takes some discipline, which is learnt by experience. The best method is to programme your Garmin etc. to tell you what to do. It's easy to do the first few too fast and then run out of steam before doing them all. I am 73 so my pace is slow nowadays. If I decide to do 8x300m.(+ 200m. slow jog recovery), then I first calculate what speed to do each rep. My best 300m. track time is about 1:10. For a set of intervals, I would add 10 -15%, so do each rep in approx. 1:20, doing my jog recovery very slowly to recover properly. If I try to do a PB (or nearly) for each rep., I won't last out the whole set. Then, if you're training for a race, it can be useful to do set of intervals at your predicted race pace, to accustom your body to race conditions, with a fairly short recovery. e.g. 6x800m. (+150m. jog recovery) for a 5K.
