It's not a very exciting sport and we're not particularly good at it, yet I'm expected to let my team watch telly for two hours in the middle of the day because 'the football's on'. I don't get to put my feet up for three days for every test match played over the summer, and that's a far more entertaining sport - with ebbs and flows, challenge and intelligent strategy. Same with cycling - skill, determination, lycra, dedication and crazy mountains. And we're pretty decent at both cricket and cycling.
