aahh now then they and the bus driver would be deserving of a mini gift....but parents buying presents for teachers so that their little cherub can curry favour with the teacher stinks of mini corruption....Still if the kids want to be politicians it is a good introduction into how the honours system works...;-)

I have a feeling I'm going to regret asking this but... How does a teacher return the favour to their pupils?

My kids' teachers usually gave everyone in the class a little present.

For some reason this article bbc.co.uk really irritated me when I read it last night.

From this teacher's point of view, can I clarify that, whilst it is always lovely to receive gifts from pupils and they were all appreciated, no pupil ever gained any special favour or status through doing so.

Baby showers. A friend of mine has just received an invite to a baby shower with a gift list and a request for £5 to cover the refreshments. I think I'd be telling them where to shove it. |

Say No To Pork Sausages
Anyway, mine was a certain football manager calling another an OLD C***, as if the two go together, quite apart from the fact the person calling the name was old-ish himself. You can be OLD you can be YOUNG you can be old and a c*** you can be young an a c*** better still is probably not to use the word old. |

Not exactly gear-grinding, but a tiny bit unsettling in my view. We, as a country seem to lurch from one charity appeal to another and it struck home with me at the weekend when there were adverts for celebrities (hey, it's Jamelia again!) baking as part of Sports Relief (if anyone can explain the connection please do so) I cannot deny that the charities are worthy, but over the last few months we've had the Poppy Appeal, then straghtaway Children In Need, Movember, the no-drinking January thing, wearing red for the British Heart Foundation and now Sports Relief and the upcoming swarms of people 'doing' the London Marathon. All through this time we've had appeals for Syrian refugees and now the Sudan situation. All the charities deserve support, and most have had my support - I'd just like a bit of a break from the constant campaigns. |
