American recipes use 'cups' as a measure. You can actually buy cups to measure stuff out. But why would you want to make butter fit in a cup when you could just cut it and weigh it?

What The Actual Fleecy
Quite. And when it says 'half a cup of MELTED butter', that's very annoying! Cups of flour and sugar etc are convenient though.

I hate cups for butter, or Tbsp, but definitely love cups for sugar, flour and other dry things. I alternate in my recipes though, using both. Growing up in NZ in an English family (complete with Delia) will do that though...

People in races with their elbows sticking out so far that I get jabbed as I try to get past. And wankers cutting across me to get to a water station and tripping me up. My gears were well and truly ground in yesterdays race. There was so much cuntery going on all around me I was fit to throw myself in the bay.

It's not much better than people who let their dogs crap and don't clear it up, that. Really makes me steer clear of big corporately-organised events, and indeed much that's run on roads these days.

I've done it about 6 times now and not really had any problems before but yesterday was awful. I even heard two bints behind me at the start saying 'oh look at us in this time zone, we'll be lucky to finish in an hour haha". I wanted to turn around and beat the fuck out of them. The humidity was making me extra ratty with this kind of thing !

Yes, that's quite ratty...! My race yesterday had about 400 runners tops. We all spread out in about the first 200m or so, it helps to start on an uphill stretch. Peace and calm!

I spent the first kilometre tripping over people. There were even two feral kids running on and off the course causing even more annoyance so I roared at them to get out of the way

You see those people who diligently pick up their dog's shit and put it in a bag while you're looking, then as soon as they're out of view, tie the top of the bag and cob it into the sand dunes?
Those arseholes.
