Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

"There are big crowds at Royal Ascot," I heard on the radio. Well, whoop-de-do. Why are these people not at WORK?

When I get a zapper that evaporates useless things, they will all be gone in a puff of brightly-coloured, manure-scented smoke. Pffffffffffffffffffft :)

magnumpti, it clears the cache (or some other tech-speak) of stored satellaites and stops the Garmin wasting time searching for ones that are no longer there. Because the martians have commandeered them, Or something. I don't know.

Anyway, instructions and a more solid logical technical reasoning can be found here...

I've been to Ascot and hated it, but I find horse racing excessively dull, even when it's somewhere as beautiful as Goodwood. Places like Ascot are often populated by loathsome toffs though, toff-watching is about the only entertaining aspect of these things :)
Polo was worse though, £20 for a glass of wine and dull as ditchwater. Awful.

I have been to royal Ascot and I am not a toff, I have to admit I didn't like it either. itis basically the best flat racing, in terms of horses, you could ever go to, but it is full of people twatting about.

toffs are pretty thin on the ground at ascot nowadays, except in the royal enclosure.

the first time I went we were in some sort of member's enclosure or something where we could wander round lots. last time wasn't so good as we were in a stand with a marquee area outside.

once went to an evening meet at newbury racecourse. must admit I enjoyed that more. even tho I know nothing about horse-racing!

i work in hospitality and we go to Royal Ascot every year (take high spending customers etc) its amazing to people watch, the 'ladies' arrive all done up to the nines and leave looking absolutely twatted. There is idfferent breed going these days, all fake tan and fighting over boyfirends etc.
