Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

But I thought knowing the names of Kings and Queens is what we need to kick start our fragile economy?

Not to mention being able to write long and meaningless essays discussing the move from civilised behaviour to tribal savagery as depicted in Golding's "Lord of The Flies".

I'm not generally in favour of burning books but in this particular case I'm prepared to make an exception...

I didn't mind it so much. Mill on the Floss nearly drove me insane though. I really didn't think I was ever going to get to the end of the thing.

I liked LOTF! Although I liked it better when I could just read it and didn't have to micro-analyse every sentence structure.

Doing English Literature O level (yes I am *that* old) nearly destroyed my love of reading. Fortunately I recovered. Never had strong opinions either way on LotF.

Agreed Duchess, and the reason I didn't do A level when I so obviously should've.

People ( my family) starting using the new tube of toothpaste when the old one isn't finished yet. I am still using the old one yet its successor is too almost empty
