Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I also "did" Lord of the Flies. Shame, when Golding wrote so many better books.

Why do my cats think 5am is a good time to wake me up?

Sporting tour groups at destnation airports....You see them assembling at the luggage carousel ..And then the football/rugby ball surfaces from somewhere and before you can even think the word " tossers " the object of choice is pinging about and bouncing between them , much to their own ribald ( and deeply unfunny ) amusement ...No amount of open scorn or derision , incidentally , will deflect these weekend warriors from their task..

companies who come over all touchy feely and claim that they want to 'help people' do such and such. No you don't you just want to sell me something and make a fat profit. Which is fair enough if you can get away with it. Just stop pretending that you're doing me a favour.

Smug people who "know" they are right and resist any evidence to the contrary.

When family in a family business, bother to turn up, then spend their time chatting about going to a spa and the treatments they will get, whilst non family members have to do more than their fair share of the work.

Ah yes, Butterflies, how I miss the joys of working for a small family business.

"What, I only get three weeks holiday a year because we're a small company on a tight budget? While you and your wife (also on the payroll, for no reason other than to use her tax-free allowance) get to swan off any time you like and also spend much of the school holidays 'working from home?' Yeah, right."

And yet, I still stayed for five years!

My last place was the worst, the daughter worked 2 days a week, and always booked to have her hair done, or nails, or anything else she could think of, on the days she was meant to be at work! When she was there she spent the day on the phone chatting to her friends. The company I am with now is not much better. Non family can't have holidays at the same time, but 4 out of 5 of the family can and do. Moral is at an all time low. Work is not a happy place to be :-(

Just back from the Ipswich Pear Izumi Tour Series race in Ipswich with my oldest son. That didn't grind my gears, it was excellent.

What did grind my gears was going around town at lunchtime and hearing loads of moaning because for one afternoon there were barriers up and it wasn't as easy to get about as normal. FFSl The sort of people that probably loved the Olympics and Wiggins winning the TDF, but when they have a slight inconvenience it is all too much. Which is partly why the Ipswich half marathon is now on a tiny twisty turny multi lap route and the Felixstowe half marathon was shut-down to avoid closing a road for two hours on one Sunday morning a year.

People in supermarkets who give their kids food they haven't yet paid for really annoys me !!
