Yeah, there are no words to describe the car drivers that do that!

There's a lot of hate out there from motorists towards cyclists. Most of it unjustified. Live and let live I say. The more cyclists there are then the less cars there are on the road so surely motorists this is a good thing ?

Overtaking on the outside is great. I get that. If I see a cyclist do it, I will be mildly jealous that they're not stuck in the traffic jam I'm sitting in. Then I remember that I'm sitting down and listening to the radio
I genuinely don't get the undertaking on the inside. I don't expect you to be there. The Highway Code says you shouldn't be. I was taught to position my car to the left of my lane therefore there probably isn't room for you to pass on that side. I'm not trying to be obstructive or stop you getting through. I don't want you to scratch my wing as you squeeze past in the gutter. And I really don't want to knock you off when you try to squeeze through a gap that isn't there when I pull off. So not having a go at you. I just don't understand some cycling behaviours.

Sometimes it's unsafe to pass on the outside if the oncoming traffic is very close, therefore when traffic is crawling along it's safest to pass on the inside. Even when there is a cycle lane I sometimes can't pass the stopped traffic because cars dont leave enough space. I don't see why I should wait in a queue of cars just because some of them are inconsiderate enough to not give me a enough space so I will pass on whatever side I can without risking an accident. If you dont want cyclists to scratch your wing then use your mirrors a bit more and be mindful that there are cycylists out there in increasing numbers and they may want to pass. It's not really asking much is it ?

Motorists should thank cyclists because cobbled streets only became tarmac and smooth because of the pressure from cycling groups. Also, the Royal Automobile Club is an offshoot of the Cyclists Touring Club.

Just to add, I'm not out to piss off motorists (I drive too), I just want to complete my journey without getting killed. It seems however that that's a lot to ask. I would love for all drivers to complete just one bike ride in rush hour traffic and I guarantee it would change how they see cyclists when they see what we are up against.

Agreed, PQ. Many motorists passed their driving test years ago and have had no updates on what they're supposed to do and how they're supposed to behave. This is why everyone gets confused at mini roundabouts. When I'm in power, I'll make everyone do some sort of test every few years.

That's probably my point PQ, you're behaving in a way that makes sense to a cyclist, but not to a non-cycling driver. And yes, every bloody road user should be required to sit re-tests periodically. So long as I don't have to demonstrate my parallel parking ability. Or lack of.
