Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Apparently it's an Americanism which is all the more reason to not say it. To me it implies that you want to do it yourself which clearly isn't going to happen in Greggs.

It isn't an Americanism - at least it probably didn't originate there. What the Americanisms do with English often has its origins in something we've done with it in the UK in the past. If it's usual in at least part of Scotland as Tosmum says then it's much more likely that some Scots took it to America many years ago too. Americanisms aren't all bad either: sometimes they make a lot of sense.

All those people who, about a week ago, could talk of nothing but a player called "louis" Suarez pronounced loo-ee. Look, it's Luis. Loo-weess. There is an S in it. He is not French.

So far on "embarrassing bodies" tonight we have been subjected to anal fistulas, mass ball bag examinations and foof problems.

Why doesn't C4 have an ignore feature?
