I'm slightly tied by the fact that, unlike with insurance companies, I can't say to ATOS, "If you use the word "urgent" in a demand for a report in future, I shall shred the letter on receipt and await a more appropriately-worded request," because we're obliged to provide ATOS reports.

The poster that has gone up in the waiting room suggesting that patients can call up and ask for the doctor to 'phone them back instead of coming to surgery.
I HATE doing telephone consultations, and I don't see the number of my surgery slots being reduced to accommodate this extra workload.

Derek Hawkins's decision to decline selection for the Worlds this year , and instead " ..run the race of my life in Glasgow in 2014.." Who , if anyone , is advising this guy ? Doesn't he appreciate how precious these opportunities are in athletics and how fragile form and fitness can be at his level ? Two words ;Andrew Lemoncello ( DNF most recent performance ) !

People who go into a shop, Greggs on this occasion, and say "Have you got a sausage roll" or "Could I get a sausage roll". Of course they've got sausage rolls and of course you can get one. Why can't they just say "Could I have a sausage roll please" like a normal person?

I'm coming round to the idea that since this usage is so widespread it has to be the case that users of those forms of request ARE in fact the normal people

Students who come to the library desk for help whilst not bothering at all to try looking for something themselves - I am not going to down all day searching for information on XYZ, your the student YOU are supposed to do that. I am here to look after the stuff and help you if you have problems not do it for you.
