Every year the same - no sooner has the last note from Remembrance Sunday died away, then it's officially Christmas.
Browsing a local shop, listening to Christmas tunes and looking at the same tat being placed on the shelves from last year (at no point in Peaky Blinders did I see them reference a boxed shower set which I saw for sale) and I realise that my usual 'meh' has appeared again, which will only be dispelled in the week before the big day.

The statement that people often start an email or communication with: "Hope you're well".
What a waste of fucking words. If you're interested, ask. Don't make a statement that requires the receiver to mentally respond "I'm not actually, but you clearly don't give an actual shit".

Spiders webs. They make them in places that are constantly knocked away but keep rebuilding them again and again. Surely after a while they must get the idea that it's clearly not working in that location and would want to move on to somewhere else?

Or they're testing, Monty. Are the webs strong enough yet? Plotting a way to capture a person....

cyclists (esp now it gets dark earlier) dressed all in black, no lights, often not wearing a helmet and usually cycling as though they have right of way on the shared cycle way where it crosses the road

Agree with both the above. Pedestrians and cyclists may have right of way according to the latest edition of the Highway Code, but that doesn't make them (us!) any easier to see or harder to kill.
