Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I can get wifi of SWR local trains but never on long-distance ones. GWR I always fail on. Southern, otoh, is really good. Thameslink patchy.

"Being ill" or "being unwell" being used as euphemisms for vomiting.

We have children at school who say "I was sick yesterday" to me sick = vomit, which leads me to wonder why they're in school, apparently where I now live sick = unwell/poorly and they had a cough/cold/sore throat and had the day off school.

If you're British, "sick" = "vomit" to me too. But if they said, "I was ill yesterday," I wouldn't immediately think that they'd vomited.

The same if somebody said they were sick. I’d only think they’d vomited if they said they’d *been* sick.

Dunno if there’s regional variations, but like Dio, I’d only think someone had vomited if they said they’d *been* sick - if someone’s off work ill, it’s generally referee to (at least where I live) as being off sick, or in sick leave.

Also, never had the dubious pleasures of SWR wifi, but GWR’s is pants - think I’ve got it to work once, ever, for about 10 minutes.

Duolingo telling me every few questions what a wonderful learner I am and how hard I'm working. Doesn't it know I've just taken about six weeks off?
